Gorenko was born in 1889, near Odessa, Ukraine, began writing poetry at the age of 11 and published her first book of poems, *Evening*, in 1912, to popular and critical success. Beginning in the early 1920s, most of her work was banned by the Soviet regime. This edition collects *Requiem*, *Poem Without a Hero* and *Way of All the Earth*.
