Taipei: Aurora Art Museum , 2003. The collection of early Chinese Buddhist sculptures held by the Aurora Art Museum in Taiwan is renown for its quality and beauty. Spanning the period from the 4th century to the late Ming Dynasty, with many examples in stone and some in bronze and wood, the collection is particularly strong in the period of the Northern Qi and the style of the Qingzhou site, Shandong Province. This period was a pinnacle in the artistic quality of Chinese stone carving and a number of the examples in the collection are among the finest known. A total of 86 objects have been included, each described in detail in both English and Chinese, all illustrated in colour, often with multiple images.
