First edition; 8vo; author's copy with corrections on 13 pages, signed and annotated 'Graham Greene / Author's corrected copy', with a letter from Nicholas Dennys of The Gloucester Road Bookshop, dated 11 January 1989, giving provenance; original green boards gilt, dust jacket.
greene The revisions include the changing of 'Gare de l'Ouest' to 'Gare Montparnasse' on several pages; 'that man would say anything for a drink' (p.56) becoming 'that man would sign anything for a drink' and 'many months' imprisonment' (p.64) altered to 'many years' imprisonment'.

Synopsis

Graham Greene (1904-1991) worked as a journalist and critic, and was later employed by the Foreign Office. His many books include The Power and the Glory , The Third Man , Our Man in Havana , The Comedians and Travels with My Aunt . He is the subject of an acclaimed three-volume biography by Norman Sherry.
