A Balkan Tragedy, Yugoslavia 1941-1946: Memoirs of a Guerrilla Fighter Hardcover - 2004

by Zvonimir Vuckovich

From the publisher

An important source for the study of the Yugoslav resistance during the Nazi occupation in World War II, these documents present a gripping account of a young lieutenant - an idealist and pro-Western democrat - active in the resistance. Among other feats, Vuckovich organized the rescue of 500 American pilots shot down behind enemy lines in 1944; they were successfully returned to the Allied command in Italy.
