HEINZ E. KNOEPFEL, PhD, is currently affiliated with the Frascati Research Center of the Italian Agency for New Technologies, Energy, and the Environment (ENEA) in Rome, Italy, and is Director of the School of Fusion Reactor Technology at the "Ettore Majorana" Center for Scientific Culture in Erice, Sicily. During a career that spans decades, he has been involved in important projects at such organizations as the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and has published more than 12 books as author or editor.
