Description:
Sweden 1999. Hilma af Klint (1962-1944) is one of the great artists of the 1900s, but her work has been largely ignored for the past half century. In 1986, her work was displayed in Los Angeles for the first time in an international exhibition. The two authors of this book delved separately into the work and life history of this artist. Art historian Svensson explores Klint’s role as a pioneer within the context of the esoteric trends of modernist art. Lindén, on the other hand, investigated her unpublished letters, hereby allowing us to follow her first period of painting from 1906-08 through Klint’s own commentary. With these two perspectives, we are able to understand the entirety of Klints work from two distinct yet complementary perspectives. , Swedish, Year1999, Illust. B/W6, Illust.
