From the publisher

The foremost weekly journal in the field of architecture and construction in the Victorian era was the Builder, which began regular publication in 1843 and continues today as Building, the longest-running business weekly in the UK. The architect George Godwin, the magazine's third and most eminent editor, put the Builder firmly on the map at a time of great architectural activity, and kept it there until his retirement in 1883.
