About the author

Armond White is the esteemed, controversial, and brilliantly independent film critic and three-times chair of the New York Film Critics Circle. White is currently the film critic for Out magazine and National Review. Before these two posts, he was Editor for CityArts and Arts Editor for The City Sun. In between which, he was the lead film critic for New York Press. That's a 30-year career as quote "The Last Honest Film Critic in America," to take the title of an entire chapter devoted to White from recent textbook Film Criticism in the Digital Age. White, himself, has written three books that are essential for anyone who loves pop culture: The Resistance: Ten Years of Pop Culture That Shook the World, Rebel for the Hell of It: The Life of Tupac Shakur, and Keep Moving: The Michael Jackson Chronicles. Now, New Position: The Prince Chronicles joins the ranks of these auspicious tomes. These books affirm that White practically invented the art of music video criticism, which he was able to demonstrate for over a decade in an annual presentation of music video art at Lincoln Center. It was always the cultural highlight of the year.
