About the author

Richard Jasnow is professor of Egyptology at Johns Hopkins University. He has authored A Late Period Hieratic Wisdom Text (P. Brooklyn 47.218.135) (The Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago, 1992) and The Ancient Egyptian Book of Thoth (Harrassowitz, 2005; with Karl-Theodor Zauzich). Jasnow's research focuses on Demotic texts of the Graeco-Roman period. Kathlyn M. Cooney is associate professor of Egyptian Art and Architecture at UCLA. She is author of The Cost of Death: The Social and Economic Value of Ancient Egyptian Funerary Art in the Ramesside Period (Nederlands Instituut voor het Nabije Oosten, 2007) and The Woman Who Would Be King: Hatshepsut's Rise to Power in Ancient Egypt (Crown 2014). Her research focuses on craft specialization, ancient economics, funerary material culture, and social crisis.
