In questo volume italianisti e italianiste provenienti da dodici nazioni discutono in 32 saggi il ruolo essenziale svolto tra passato e presente dalla letteratura siciliana nel contesto culturale europeo e mondiale. Con la raccolta si intende promuovere e arricchire gli studi di sicilianistica in una prospettiva specifica che tiene conto del paradigma transculturale della costruzione artefatta di confini geografici - ossia regionali, nazionali e continentali - ed entit culturali. Ogni saggio seguito da un riassunto in italiano, tedesco e inglese. Il volume corredato da un'appendice letteraria e da un indice dei nomi.
Im Mittelpunkt der 32 Beitrge italianistischer Fachautoren aus zwlf Nationen steht die essenzielle Rolle, die Siziliens literarische Vergangenheit und Gegenwart im europischen und globalen Kontext spielt. Oberstes Ziel des Sammelbandes ist es, die Sizilienforschung um das transkulturelle Paradigma von der Konstruiertheit geographischer - das hei t regionaler, nationaler und kontinentaler - Grenzziehungen und kultureller Entitten zu bereichern. Jeder Beitrag schlie t mit einer italienisch-, deutsch- und englischsprachigen Zusammenfassung ab. Der Band enthlt zudem einen literarischen Anhang und ein Namensregister.
In the 32 essays of this collection, Italian scholars from twelve nations discuss the role that Sicilian literature past and present has played in the European and global contexts. The goal of the volume is to enlarge and enrich Sicilian studies from a perspective that recognizes the transcultural paradigm of the construction of cultural entities and of geographical - i.e. regional, national and continental - boundaries. Each essay is followed by an abstract in Italian, German and English language. The book is provided with a literary appendix and an index of names.

About the author

Il curatore/Die Herausgeberin/The Editor: Dagmar Reichardt insegna Lingue e Letterature Romanze presso l'Universit di Brema. Dottorato nel 1999 con una tesi sulla letteratura fantastica di Giuseppe Bonaviri. Numerose pubblicazioni in ambito italianista, sulle relazioni tra Germania e Italia e su temi inerenti alla scienza della cultura e alla letteratura comparata.
Dagmar Reichardt lehrt Romanische Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaft an der Universitt Bremen. 1999 erfolgte die Promotion mit einer Arbeit zur phantastischen Literatur Giuseppe Bonaviris. Es folgten zahlreiche Publikationen ber Themen der Italianistik, des deutsch-italienischen Verhltnisses sowie der Vergleichenden Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaft.
Dagmar Reichardt is Assistant Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Bremen. She completed her dissertation on the fantastical literature of Giuseppe Bonaviri in 1999, followed by numerous publications in the fields of Italian Studies, Italo-German relations, and Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies.
