The contract is initialed and signed as well by studio vice-president and notorious "fixer" Eddie Mannix, a real-life Ray Donovan figure who was responsible for countless coverups of often serious crimes and dirty dealings involving stars like Spencer Tracy, Clark Gable, Joan Crawford, and George Reeves(Mannix is rumored to have been involved in his infamous and mysterious death) amongst many others.

Dublin: St. Saviour's, 1967. 1st Edition. Leather bound. Very good. Complete set in two volumes of the Dominican breviary in English. Black leather, stamped in gilt. Former owner's name stamped on endpapers and title pages but text is otherwise clean. tight, and unmarked. Spines slightly soiled and discolored. The English translation of the Dominican Rite breviary. Although the translkation is from 1967, this edition of the Rite was promulgated by Pope John XXIII in 1960 and the approbations date from 1960 and 1961. Text is entirely in English, translated from the Latin. Very scarce. The Dominican Breviary is complete in two volumes, as opposed to the four volume Roman Breviary.

Pablita Velarde was a very talented and influential Native American artist. She painted many pieces depicting Native American life and culture in the Southwest. This book about her life and work is autographed by both her and the author.

It covers lower Manhattan from roughly 30th street south to include the northernmost parts of Brooklyn and Williamsburg, which at the time were separate cities. Incredibly detailed, it notes churches, ferry lines, government buildings, parks, squares, and other important landmarks. Columbia College is noted on Murray Street. The old Fulton Fish Market, St. Mark's Church in the East Village, and the nation's first hospital at Bellevue are also identified. Burr's Map Store is noted near City Hall, although we can't be sure if it was real or fictitious, made up specifically for this map. Signed by Scalia as "Nino" and inscribed "with respect and affection" for Henry Abraham. Nino is the nickname Scalia acquired early in life, partly in remembrance of his grandfather, for whom he was named, and is how he was known to close friends.
The recipient is almost undoubtedly Henry J. Abraham, University of Virginia Law Professor, scholar on the judiciary and constitutional law, and friend to Scalia (as well as Justices Brennan, Powell, and Ginsberg). In his honor, Professor Abraham's former students and colleagues established the Abraham Distinguished Lecture Series at UVA Law School in 1997. Scalia was the 2010 Abraham Lecturer.
A fine copy in similarly fine, unclipped dust wrapper.
Association copies with Scalia's signature are uncommon indeed.

Signed by both Albert Schweitzer and his wife Helene. Books signed by Albert alone are uncommon; books signed by both Albert and Helene are scarce indeed.
While Albert received many of the accolades, including winning the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize for his "reverence for life" philosophy, Helene's biographer noted that she edited and proofread a number of Schweitzer's books in multiple fields as they worked together to realize their shared dream of devoting their lives to humanity. Together in 1913, Albert and Helene Schweitzer founded what is now the longest-running hospital established by Europeans in Africa, the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in current-day Gabon. With her quiet strength, clear sense of purpose, independent spirit, and wide range of skills and talents, Helene was a model for many other women who later served the Schweitzer Hospital.
