THE THIN MAN Signedby Hammett, Dashiell
DescriptionNew York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1934 Hammett, Dashiel. THE THIN MAN. First Edition, Third Printing. SIGNED & DATED, 1934 by Hammett on the front pastedown. 8vo., greenish cloth cover with orange outlining & navy blue mask. A very good or better copy in a supplied facsimile dustwrapper for display. Covers a bit mottled but quite clean, front endpaper & first blank professionally restored. The copyright page states: 3rd Printing January, 1934 - The same month as the First Edition, First Printing. An excellent copy of this high spot of 20th Century Detective Fiction & the basis for the CLASSIC 1934 motion picture starring William Powell & Myrna Loy as Nick & Nora Charles. Hammett has signed boldly in blue/black fountain pen on the bias. Would that it were a signed 1st with an upper five figure price tag. As a mere 3rd, well, who would want such a trifling in their distinguished collection. We would. Authentic Signed Dashiel Hammett books come along only once in a blue moon. Red Custom Clamshell Protective Case with the Thin Man silhouetted in blind on the side; titling in gilt at the spine.. 1st Edition.
