Description:
Tight, square spine has some cosmetic creasing. Unmarked interior. There is some moderate to heavy edge-wear and a couple small chips to the covers. Some areas of very light foxing to the interior. Design by Gillian Greenwood. In the late 1950s, Kobal had a serendipitous run-in with Dietrich in Montreal, which would instigate his deep love of Hollywood's Golden Age, causing him to spend the next decades acquiring cinema-related photographs as he built The Kobal Collection, an archive eventually encompassing 500,000 images. In this Studio Vista/Dutton Pictureback, he zeroes in on the icon who started it all, incorporating a generous number of photos from his collection, plus a wonderful frontispiece rendering of Dietrich by Ukrainian-born sculptor Alexandra de Lazareff. 160 pp. Cinema.
