Description:
London: Bodley Head, 1986. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good +/Very Good +. The interior of the book is crisp and clean, showing no marks or signs of wear. The red covers are fresh, with small bumps to the top and bottom of the spine, but no wear else. The gilt lettering is still bright. The dust jacket is not price-clipped, but is otherwise in excellent condition. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: "Old Letitia Cutbush lives alone, fiercely independent and insufferably rude to her neighbours, accepting help only from young Rosy Weeks, a "lad" in the racing stable up at Brood House, where the old woman once reigned supreme. In the hands of Letitia's grandson, the once-great stable is now a second-rate yard of hurdlers and chasers, but Rosy dreams of seeing it return to its past glory. Jeremy does too -- if his grandmother leaves him her money when she dies...
