Description:
N Y: Covici Friede Publishers. Near Fine/No Jacket. 1935. First Edition. Hard Cover. 0-690-04819-X This is the rare First Edition of this important work from 1935 by the muckracking reporter John L. Spivak, which focuses on the plight of the American Worker at the height of the Great Depression. 287 pages, a very good plus hardcover in black boards (no jacket). A nice copy showing only light foxing (darkening to paper) at endpapers only, otherwise bright interior, clean and solid; cover binding shows only minor shelf wear and bumping at spine ends. John L. Spivak (1897-1981), an investigative reporter and author whom fellow muckraker Lincoln Steffens described as "the best of us," was most concerned with the problems of the working class and the spread of fascism and anti-Semitism in Europe and the United States from the 1920s through the 1940s. FIRST EDITION. .
