One of my great concerns with regard to this present outpouring is the increasing tendency to build upon "sand" rather than upon the rock of God's Word. How readily we grasp at loose grains of truth rather than the whole rock! As a teacher, I am concerned that we are producing a generation of believers hooked on experiences rather than exposition. We get more excited over some feelings than we do over God's Word. People flock to see some demonstration of God's power, but they run from any desire to know the person of God Himself. We now give more emphasis to praise than we do to prayer, and possessions have replaced passion and purity. Success is no longer measured by character, but by charisma. Gifting has replaced godliness. Put on a gospel concert, and you can fill most auditoriums. Call people to pray, and you can fit them into the smallest room of the church.<P" feel that we are in danger of being swept away by the enemy's river of deception. Thousands line up to experience "holy laughter", but few make the transition to "holy living". Others swarm to hear about financial prosperity, but know little of spiritual prosperity.<P" believe that it is time for some honest talking and discussion. When Manoah (Samson's father) was informed by his wife that she was about to have a child, he begged God to allow the angel to return and instruct him on how the child was to be raised. God has seen fit to give us a "child". We now need the wisdom of God on how to raise it for God's ultimate glory and purpose. Let's seek to know how to make the transition from privilege to purpose.
