Gettysburg and Its Fury Paperback - 2003

by Gerald L. Culbertson; Austin Kampa

From the publisher

In 1860's America, when souls appeared overtaken by the anger and frustration of war, nothing seemed hopeful for the young country. Boys put on soldier's uniforms fit only for confident men, and many would never take them off again. This would be the case for three brothers growing up in Erie, Pennsylvania. Danny, the oldest at nineteen, decides to avoid the war and head South in search of some answers to his disheartening questions. Falling in love with a Southern belle, he quickly finds himself in the middle of the war, fighting for the Southern cause--a cause that he didn't understand. Meanwhile, his newlywed brother, Tommy, and his younger brother Billy stand together to uphold their family name. They must pick up their rifles and fight for the Union. Unfortunately, none of the McKay boys ever thought that after two years of heavy fighting they'd all end up at the same battlefield. Gettysburg was one of the places that took the lives of those young boys. It was a sacrifice that every one of them was willing to make.
