While in Glasgow war broke out and he describes the devastating effect of U-boats and surface raiders on ship owners and the course of the war. He was appointed to Hong Kong, traversing Russia by train just before Russia's first revolution. He spent the next 24 years in Hong Kong, for a time he was the Norwegian Consul. It came to an end in 1941 when he was wounded while defending a six inch gun at Port Stanley with the Royal Hong Kong Volunteers and became a prisoner of war.. Second Printing. Soft Cover. In 1916 he travelled across Russia and Siberia just before the Russian Revolution to Hong Kong. He spent 24 years there part of which he was Norwegian Consul . It all ended in 1941 when as part of the Hong Kong Volunteers he was wounded and became a POW.
