The "sketchbook" of German architect Balthasar Neumann form the basis of this study of his working methods and of 18th-century decorative art. This publication provides a history of said sketchbook and an account of Neumann as draughtsman and his relation to decoration, as well as a chapter on designs by Daniel Schenk as "contributions to the history of the décor/furnishings of Pommersfelden castle and the Erbach monastery."
