About This Item

N.p.: N.p., 1966. Two vintage borderless photographs, one showing artist David Siqueiros trying on a new shirt, while his wife Angelica watches, the other showing Siqueiros alone, circa 1966. With two printed mimeo snipes on the verso, along with two agency labels and the stamp of photographer Per-Olle Stackman. From the archive of the PIX Agency, a photo house that acted as an intermediary between emigre photographers (as well as those still living in Europe) and the American magazine and newspaper market between 1935-1969.

Noted Mexican social realist painter Siqueiros was best known for his large-scale murals in fresco. His leftist, revolutionary political leanings also granted him some measure of infamy, in particular his attempted assassination of Leon Trotsky in May 1940. In 1966 Siqueiros began work on what is still considered to be the largest mural ever painted, the Polyforum Siqueiros in Mexico City.

One 6.5 x 10 inches, one 7 x 10 inches. Near Fine.
