At first a disciple of Christian Wolff (1679-1754), Darjes in his Elements of Metaphysics (1743) had sought to integrate the Wolffian system within the framework of late scholasticism . But as he expanded his understanding of the system, its internal contradictions became more and more apparent to the point that he ended up rejecting certain basic principles. It was in 1748, under the influence of Christian August Crusius (1715-1775), that he published his remarks on some theses of Wolffian metaphysics , a work in which the principle of sufficient reason defended by Wolff is critically criticized . Darjes therefore appears as an avowed opponent of Wolffianism. Darjes was also member of the Masonic Lodge of the Three Roses , of which he was for a time Grand Master] Illustrated By: N/A Format: Hardcover, Language: Latin Dust Jacket: No Jacket, Dust Jacket Condition: No Jacket Published By: Christ.
