(7.7 x 5.4 inches). 336pp. No publisher on title page, just the date year printed on the verso and a stuck in paper label of Caves Book Co. on rear blank free endpaper. The title page has the title, author name and blurb 'at this point, it looked like curtains for james bond; he was skimping on his work, gambling, wenching, and on the edge of becoming a security risk' (sic). Blue cloth binding with silver lettering to the spine. Publishers sewn-in blue silk bookmark. The dustwrapper is printed in blue to the front panel, showing Bond holding his gun, between lettering and a target design. Spine lettered in blue. No other printing to the wrapper. ----- A rare curiosity.

Finely bound in a contemporary full dark green morocco binding by Ramage of London. Spine with five raised bands, ruled in gilt. The compartments with gilt ruled lines, flower and star designs and lettering. Decorative flower and leaf designs to both boards, within a wavy line border which is surrounded by multiple stars, within a ruled line border, all in gilt. Elaborate gilt tooled stars, flowers and decorative roll borders to the inner boards with off-white moire silk endpapers. All edges gilt. Previous owners neat inscription, dated 1914, to the front blank free endpaper. Spine faded to an attractive tan colour and the front board to a lighter green but still a beautiful fine binding from the library of W. A. A beautiful copy of this first English edition of the Author's autobiographical novel, set against the backdrop of the 1905 Russian revolution, inspired by his childhood in Odessa.

New Directions. Norfolk, Connecticut. 1942. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (9 x 6.1 inches). One of only 2000 copies printed. Fine in publishers pale blue boards with black lettering to the front. In the original pale blue dustwrapper with price ($1.00) still intact to inner front flap. Just a hint of fading to the blank spine but overall a fine copy in a very near fine dustwrapper. Berryman's first book, issued in New Direction's Poet of the month series.

Lupus Music. 1969. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (8.7 x 5.6 inches). A very good, bright copy in the pictorial boards which show a black and white photo portrait of Bolan. Front board and spine lettered in white. In the original dustwrapper which reproduces the boards. Just a hint of rubbing to the extremities of the boards and some creases to the edges of the wrapper but overall a very good copy throughout.

Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Both boards have ruled and doted line borders with elaborate floral corner decorations. Board edges with flower and dot roll in gilt. Inner gilt dentelles. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Two navy blue silk bookmarks sewn in. Neat previous owners bookplate to the front pastedown endpaper. A fine, beautifully bound copy.

Each volume with a new preface by Maugham, described by Raymond Toole Stott, Maugham's bibliographer, as containing "important material of biographical and bibliographical interest". Each volume comprises three of Maugham's most widely read novels. A very good set in publishers blue cloth bindings. Spines with two black block panels. Front boards and spines are lettered in gilt. School prize labels mounted onto the front paste down endpapers of each volume and the school crest stamped in gilt to the front boards. In the original dustwrappers which have a few minor chips to the edges but are generally in very good condition. A very good set of this important collection. This was changed to Balaoo before publication but after the adverts were typeset. Very good bright, tight copy with previous owners name written neatly in ink to front blank endpaper. Some light foxing to a few pages but still generally a nice fresh copy. Publishers red cloth with blind ruled border and gilt lettering to front board. Spine lettered and ruled in gilt. A particularly nice copy of this rare title by the Author of The Phantom of the Opera. Originally published in French in 1912, Balaoo is the story of a Monkey who is brought up by a Scientist as a human, Mr. Noel. He is educated and can read and write and wears the latest Paris fashions. Balaoo is suspected of committing many crimes, culminating in the kidnapping of Mlle.
