Contemporary full red leather binding with attractive woven gilt border edge design. 48 full page engraved plates after Adriaan Van Derr Werff [1659-1722] by variuous important engravers of the late seventeenth century including P.A Gunst, G. Valck, Vermeulen, Pitaut, 27x24cms. Pasted to the blank leaf at the beginning is a title-page page engraving from another early work by Van Der Werff 'Histoire D'Angleterre D'Ecosse et D'Irelande' 1723.
