Faint stain to the first title page with some old soiling, light browning to the edges of some text pages; overall a good solid copy of a rare work.. Pp. viii, 242 + vi, 220. Later wine red cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine, 8vo. According to Howes B668: Bownas landed in Philadelphia in 1702; this volume covers his experiences from then to the 1750s, and includes "the captivity of Elizabeth Hanson, later elaborated into the narrative listed under her name." The second volume by Richardson is often published together with this work. This volume was originally owned by the family of John Baldwin. The first signature on the endpapers reads: John Baldwin, His Book, 1761. On the facing page the signature reads: John Baldwin, his Book, 1773. Beneath that is the signature of Caleb Baldwin, his book with no date listed. On the final endpaper there are three other signatures in an old hand - one reads 'Aaron Martins, 1794.' The page edges are uncut.
