Corners bumped and worn. Age wearing throughout. Two-inch tear to joints near bottom area of front cover. Faded gilt top edge. Hinges starting. Sporadic water staining not affecting text. "With the bookplate of Bruce Bryan, the noted author and long time curator of the Southwest Museum of The American Indians in Pasadena, California". Letters by Bowles describing his experiences. "The whole series is the ablest and most valuable report ever made of the characteristics of the Western and Pacific portions of our Union". 6 page advertisement section of publisher at rear of book. Book in very good reading, binding in fair condition.
