London: John Murray, 1932. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. FIRST PRINTING of First Edition. Original black cloth with small gilt decoration front cover and gilt lettering spine. Some usual fading to spine cloth, clean covers, solid binding, no foxing, from the collection of Robert Lawrie with his signature in pencil on the short-title page, no other previous owner marks or writing on any pages. Robert Lawrie was a famous mountaineering boot maker and equipment supplier. He was the main supplier of the 1953 British Everest expedition as well as supplier to many other famous Himlayan and Polar expeditions. The book measures 222mm tall x 139mm, and has 329 pages, 18 b/w photos, index. Memoirs of Klucker, one of the greatest Alpine guides. He climbed with Norman-Neruda, was with Whymper in the Canadian Rockies (18 page chapter on Rockies), made first ascent of complete Peuterey Ridge on Mont Blanc.
