Reprint edition, undated but circa 1929. 7 1/4" x 9 3/4" hardcover bou nd in maroon cloth with a color pictorial pastedown label on the front board. Very Good condition. Rubs/frays to the corners. Small bumps to the upper corners. Fraying to the head and base of the spine. Some du st spotting to the edges of the upper page block. Tanning to the endpa pers and light tanning to the page margins. Illustrated with eight col or plates, including the cover plate, and many black & white illustrat ions by Nora Fry. .
Synopsis
Aesop, known only for the genre of fables ascribed to him, was a slave in the mid-sixth century BC in Greece. He is assumed to have written many of these curious moral parables, and they have been added to and translated into many languages since they were first collected.
