New York: Gnome, 1953 A Fiirst Edition in Very Good condition with an unclipped Very Good Minus condition Dust Jacket. Cover Art by Kelly Freas (misspelled as Frease on the jacket. flap). Boards have slight bumps on all four corners, the bottom edges and top of spine are scuffed, and there is spotting on the spine. The jacket is rubbed/scuffed at various points along both edges, most notably at the front corners, and there is a chip at the top corner of the back cover. The back cover is lightly soiled. Artwork is not impacted and back cover text is clearly readable. It is signed by the author with an inscription to the previous owner on the page facing the front board.. Signed by Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good Minus/Very Good Minus. Hardcover.

Synopsis

Against the Fall of Night is a science fiction novel by British writer Arthur C. Clarke. Originally appearing in the November, 1948 issue of the magazine Startling Stories, it was first published in book form in 1953 by Gnome Press. It was later expanded and revised as The City and the Stars. The original also appeared in a more recent edition along with another unconnected early work: The Lion of Comarre and Against the Fall of Night.
