Albany, NY: C. Van Benthuysen & Co, 1846. First. Very Good. Ebenezer Emmons (1799 â€" 1863), was a pioneering American geologist whose work includes the naming of the Adirondack Mountains in New York as well as a first ascent of Mount Marcy He contributed to a series of volumes on the Natural History of New York, writing about agriculture and geological topics He also issued a work entitled American Geology, containing a statement of the principles of science with full illustrations demonstrating the characteristics of American fossils (1855â€"1857)
This very good copy in brown cloth withgilt titles and design on spine and gilt illustration on front cover, as well as blind stamped border designs on both cover Cloth is frayed at top of spine but is otherwise in excellent condition There is some foxing on pages, primarily on endpapers and plates, given the type of paper used, but there are no marks or other damage at all All 21 plates, including several large foldouts as well as the foldout map of New York, are all present and undamaged
