Mylar wrapped gray dust jacket with black and white lettering to front and spine, and color reproduction of Miller's painting "Buffalo Hunt" to front; very good condition. Dark burgundy cloth boards with gilt stamped lettering to spine; a few small dust spots to top edge of text block, otherwise pristine. Very good condition.
Ron Tyler is the retired director of the Amon Carter Museum of American (formerly Western) Art. First edition, comprehensive study of the career of romantic painter Alfred Jacob Miller (1810-1874), who was best known for his paintings depicting the fur trade in the Western United States.
