Bound in green cloth, with unclipped dw, 5 folding maps in a map envelope all located in a card slipcase, book has map endpapers showing the location of the Algonquin Park in Northern Ontarion, 3 coloured plates of paintings by Tom Thomson, 16 b.w photograph plates,196pp. Discovered in 1615 by Champlain the area gradually became a centre for lumbering but was protected by the Legislative Assembly of the Provine of Ontario in 1893 since when it has been developed as a National Park. It has many types of trees including black ash, swamp maple, beech and ironwood, red oak, black cherry and elms. There is said to be 177 species of birds, of which the loon and the Canada jay are the most characterful. DW has been repaired.
