Nicely illustrated vintage copy of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" with "Through the Looking-Glass" by LEWIS CARROLL. Published in 1925 by the John C. Winston Company. This edition features four color plates by Edwin John Prittie, and the original illustrations for both stories by John Tenniel in black & white (89 in all). Illustrated end papers in color.

Condition:
The gilt lettering on the spine has mostly faded, and the gilt border around the front cover illustration has partially faded. Small cloth tear at the top-left corner of the spine; tiny cloth tears at the cover corner tips. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice interior - the text pages are lightly age-toned and clean with only a light stain at the outer edge of page 184; the half title page has a small stain at the inner edge and an inscription written in pen dated 1935. Overall the book is in Very Good condition.

Synopsis

Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel, Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There , tell the story of a young girl in a fantasy world filled with peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. The classic tale of literary nonsense takes the reader on an exploration of logic and absurdities. The Alice books — sometimes combined or referred to with the abbreviated title Alice in Wonderland — have been translated into at least 97 languages with over a hundred different editions. The books have also been adapted numerous times into films (both live-action and cartoon), plays, and musicals.
