This is a charming edition of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" with "Through the Looking-Glass" by LEWIS CARROLL. 1946; Random House; New York. Complete set in two books. Each book contains the original illustrations by John Tenniel colored by Fritz Kredel. Included is the original slip case with an illustrated label in color. Condition: Some light soiling to the covers and spines; light wear to a few of the cover corners. Both book are tightly bound with no cracks and no loose pages. The pages of Looking Glass are mostly clean and white with only a few small, random stains/smudges found. Alice in Wonderland has small, pink-ish stains on page 92, front end paper, frontispiece, title page, and at the long edge of the text block. The books have a light must odor. Overall the books are in Very Good- condition. The slip case has some light soiling and wear to the corners where the panels meet, and at the opening; the short, bottom panel has separated where it meets the bottom edge of the large back panel...overall the slip case is in Good- condition.

Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel, Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There , tell the story of a young girl in a fantasy world filled with peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. The classic tale of literary nonsense takes the reader on an exploration of logic and absurdities. The Alice books — sometimes combined or referred to with the abbreviated title Alice in Wonderland — have been translated into at least 97 languages with over a hundred different editions. The books have also been adapted numerous times into films (both live-action and cartoon), plays, and musicals.
