About This Item

This is an antique copy of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" with "Through the Looking Glass" by LEWIS CARROLL. Circa 1910's (there is no date of publication stated); Henry Altemus Company; Philadelphia. Both stories feature the original illustrations by JOHN TENNIEL. There is an eight page publisher's catalog at the back. The book measures 7.5" tall x 5" wide.

Condition:
Foxing to the front cover; soiling to the back cover and spine. Small cloth tears at 3 of the cover corners. The top and bottom edges of the spine have bits of cloth missing and tears. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Tanning to the end papers. The pages are mostly clean with only an occasional smudge/stain found here and there. Pages 34-49 have a small, dark stain/foxing(?) spot at the bottom edge. Overall the book is in Good- condition.

Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel, Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There , tell the story of a young girl in a fantasy world filled with peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. The classic tale of literary nonsense takes the reader on an exploration of logic and absurdities. The Alice books — sometimes combined or referred to with the abbreviated title Alice in Wonderland — have been translated into at least 97 languages with over a hundred different editions. The books have also been adapted numerous times into films (both live-action and cartoon), plays, and musicals.
