London: Printed for Randal Taylor, 1693. Full Leather. Fair/No Jacket. Full leather. xviii, 379 pp. Second state printing of contents leaf b2. An anonymous attack on William Sherlock and his beliefs, assailing his career as well as his philosophical/theological vie, relating to the Socinian Controversy and the Socinian argument and the doctrine of the trinity. Both Sherlock and South were English church men, with both writing several works addressing the Socinian controversy (see Wikipedia for previous information). FAIR condition, ex-theological library, with minor scattered stamping and library notations in the interior, with a label at the foot of the spine. Front cover and first endpaper DETACHED but present. General darkening and minor soiling to the covers. Moderate bumping and scuffing to the leather along the extremities and hinges. Former owner's bookplate present. Lengthy notes in ink to the second endpaper. Text block solid, with a large dampstain affecting the upper right portion and center of the pages throughout the book, varied in intensity. ESTC R34581 Wing (2nd edition) S4730.
