Thick 8vo. xii, 939 pp. Bound in contemporary half vellum over comb-marbled boards (brilliantly rebacked preserving original spine and red leather morocco lettering piece). The B.H. Breslauer copy, with his penciled accession number circled. Ex-libris stamp in red of the acclaimed Roman bookseller F. Fratennali & Cie. Inscribed on p. [v]: "Angelus Amor" ¶ "One of the finest systematic bibliographies ever compiled. It is not a mere enumeration of titles, but a work of scholarship, displaying at once erudition, critical faculty, and painstaking accuracy. Taking scope and detailed treatment into consideration Petzholdt's Bibliotheca can never be surpassed in its own filed" (Besterman). "Das klassische Werk der deutschen Bibliographie" (Schneider). He is the principal Rare Book and Document appraiser at Winston Art Group (New York) and Gurr Johns (New York). From 2002 until 2013 he taught advanced graduate level courses in Rare Books and Special Collections (Palmer School of Library and Information Science at Long Island University, and the School of Information at The University of Texas at Austin School of Information).
