About This Item

New York: William Helburn, Inc, 1920. Very Good. Bound in publisher's half grey buckram wrapped over tan paper boards with black cotton linen ties; 20.5 x 15", portfolios. Complete with 104 loose black and white photographic plates; 11pp of text. Very Good, ex-library; light soiling to covers with minor fraying to corners and ties. Some thumbing to plates at margins. A sweeping study of lace history and production in France, Italy and the Netherlands. Objects presented range from the 16th-18th century, the height of lace making in Europe. Examples of lace shown include reticella, fine pieces of alcenon lace, chantilly lappets and much more. An excellent reference for historians of both costume and textile history.
