About This Item
New York, NY Macmillan: The Free Press, 1970. Paperback First Edition Thus [1970]; First Printing indicated. First Published in Hardcover in 1965. First Edition Thus [1970]; First Printing indicated. Very Good+ in Wraps: shows indications of very careful use: very light wear to the extremities; mild rubbing and faint soiling to the wrapper covers, which show a couple of very faint creases near the upper front corner and a hairline crease at the backstrip; the binding square and secure; the text is clean. Remains close to 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. 504pp. First Published in Hardcover in 1965. Trade Paperback. A classic statement of a logical empiricist account of explanation - Logical Empiricism being the dominant philosophy of science in the middle part of the 20th century, and still influential today in some of the "aspiring" sciences (such as experimental psychology and economics). It is clear and readable, and worth reading to see where later accounts of scientific explanation either draw their inspiration or are reacting (negatively) to.
