Privately Published, 1817. This hardcover has been recently re-bound in burgundy leather along the spine and at the corners with a paper label on the spine over marbled boards, plain end papers, illustrated with a folding map bound before the text, a frontis and 8 full page illustrations, 460 pages followed by the vocabulary. The binding is new. Inside all paper is aged to a manila color with discoloration (burn-in) from illustrations and text printing, page edges have light wear with some very short tears or chip, tips of some corners are rounded, page edges soiled, map has been reinforced and repaired in spots along the folds, There is a name on the title page, James ???, that I do not believe is the author's. This book was privately published in 1817 by the author and printed in Hartford. Images available. USPS tracking used on all domestic shipments. . No Edition Stated. Half-Leather. Imagines the continuation of La Perouse's voyage after Botany Bay, describing his death, and the discovery of an island peopled by French escapees from the Revolution. This copy has a red leather spine with gilt compartments and gilt titles. The boards and endpapers are marbled. The spine has a little wear at the bottom and the boards have wear to edges. Internally the endpapers are marbled. Contents: title page, text 397pp plus errata 2pp. The original page marker is present. The paper is very brown-toned to around p300 and more lightly toned with occasional light marking to the end of the work. Otherwise in good clean condition.
