About This Item
Dial Press, 1971 Book. Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 245 pages, introduction. Inscribed cordially by the author on the front endpaper: To Linda- Heard about you from Jim Mcpherson, a mutual friend. Hoping that you like"Miss Jane Pittman." James McPherson was a fellow African-American writer who received the Pulitzer Prize in 1978, a blurb from McPherson, and Alice Walker on the rear panel of the jacket. Photo of Gaines by Fran Ortiz on the back. Slight wear at the spine ends, moderate foxing on the edges, occasional erasable pencil mark in the margins and notes, in pencil on the rear endpaper. The jacket is complete and unclipped but has several flaws: wear tothe extremities, two or so sticker scrapes on the lower front panel partially obscuring the author's last name, 4 inch tear and a series of creases at the head of the spine, small closed tear on the upper front edge. Light rubbing otherwise..

About Else Fine Booksellers
"Else Fine" is a play on words, perhaps referring to something of value yet slightly worse for wear. It perfectly describes the booksellers at Else Fine, who have been dealing in used and rare books for over 25 years. We specialize in science fiction, interesting ephemera, books on books, radical literature and history, Pacific Northwest Americana, literature, and whatever else catches our eye.
