1904. ("Pearl") in pencil on ruled paper, Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania, ca. June 1904. 5" x 8"; 1 page (recto only). Very good. Together with the original holograph mailing envelope, stamped with a 2 cent George Washington stamp and postmarked Lackawaxen, P.A. June 17, 1905. To Lina Elise Roth (his future wife): "Dear Sweetheart - I have been worried thinking you might have been on that steamboat* which was burned.sorry to tell you that I have hurt myself .badly. I lifted a big stone and wrenched by back.have been [bedridden] for 2 days and can't move.Write to me.Pearl." *The "General Slocum", burned in the East River on June 15, 1904. Dolly Grey (1883-1957), married to Zane Grey November 5, 1905 until his death in 1939.. No Binding. Very Good.
