Balliere, Tindall and Cox, London . Paris . Madrid, 1897. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. IV, 64 pages, preface by author and index. The text is illustrated with the occasional table. Red coloured boards with blind stamped decoration to the top and bottom of book edges with gilt stamped titles to the front panel and backstrip. Bumping and rubbing to the head and to the heel of the backstrip and rubbing to the book corners. Staining to the top edge of the front board and to the lower edge of the rear board. Light rubbing and age wear to the book panels. Browning and foxing to the text block edges. The free front end page is missing. Browning and heavy foxing to the first few and last few pages of the book, though light foxing throughout book. The front hinge has cracked and underlying wedding is visible. There has been incomplete cutting of the top text block edge between pages in 17 -- 24 and pages 35 -- 38. " These notes are intended merely as an analytical key to bacteriological diagnosis, the object being to secure, as far as possible, a differentiation at once rapid, accurate and simple. The tables were originally drawn up for my own assistance in differentiating the mouth and throat organisms, and finding them of this very material aid, the plan was extended so as to embrace most of the nine bacteria, and the notes are now published, in the hope that they may be of service to other workers." -- from the preface page III.
