Despite being an alien Henry P. shares many dilemmas familiar to any school age kid. In this case, Henry P. is late for class and faces "Permanent Lifelong Detention" from his teacher. The excuse Henry P. concocts in order to escape this dreaded fate makes up the rest of the book. Scieszka claims to have 'channeled' the transmission of this story from outer space and that is why it came out in so many different Earth languages including Finnish, Swahili, Latvian, Esperanto, and Unuktitut (Henry P.'s language). As Henry P.'s excuse to his teacher unwinds through the book, each item with its unfamiliar name is illustrated in such a way that a clear association is easily made between the item and its unfamiliar name. 9.25"x9.25", unpaged.
