About This Item

Dublin: George Faulkner, 1738. First Edition. Disbound. Very Good Condition. Disbound and placed in a modern red cloth chemise. Trimmed too close touching first or last letters on pages (i-ii), 13-16, 21-22 but not really affecting sense. (2), iv, advertisement leaf (blankc verso), 9-22. Lacking blanks but otherwise complete. Teerink 759.

Both the Dublin first edition and the London (published later in 1738) are uncommon and quite rare in commerce. Just 2 copies of the London and none of the Dublin in the last 70+ years of auction records. A much reprinted poem about man's propensity for self delusion and acting against his own nature that references Gulliver and the Houyhnhnms. Size: duodecimo (12mo). Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Poetry; Inventory No: 047303.
