About This Item

London: John MacQueen, 1897. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. A fascinating slice of London theatre history. Scott, critic for the Telegraph, Observer and Illustrated London News reprints his reviews of all the productions (x38) he has seen at the country's "leading theatre". Includes dates, cast lists, and illustrations and some properly trenchant views. Much, of course, on Henry Irving, leader of the Lyceum company. Bar a little light and only occasional marking, in general good order throughout. Block marbled to all edges and endpapers. Clifton School prize plate to front pastedown and full leather prize binding by Baker & Son of Clifton, with gilt crest and decoration. Some wear, but still a very pleasing volume. 8vo. 444pp.

About Dodman Books

Formerly Journobooks, my original speciality was books about journalism, journalists, newspapers and other media (hence the name) and I still have a good stock of hard-to-find books in that field. Over time I have added a wide and eclectic variety of other collectible volumes alongside a general secondhand stock. I am a collector as well as a seller so know all about the pitfalls of online buying as well as the joys. I will try to make your buying experience as easy and as pleasant as possible.
