New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1928. Revised Edition. Hardcover. Very good. Octavo; pp; xi, (iii), 255; illustrated with a frontispiece and six photographs by Harry A. Chase, map endpapers; decorated green cloth lettered in red;. The very title connotes adventure and danger. Relates the author's trip to Afghanistan in 1924 when little was known about the country. Colorful slightly inflated descriptions of this "forbidden land" by this indefatigable traveler (1892-1981) who became famous for his book on T.E. Lawrence and his many years as the voice of Fox Movietone News. He also worked for CBS and NBC News and was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1989.
