New York: Gnome Press, 1959. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. First edition first printing. Hardback book is tight clean and square. Very gently bumped to head and foot of spine. Boards clean with tiny bumps to top corners. Title gilt perfect. Text block clean, with toning to edges. Feels gently read. Near Fine condition. Jacket very tidy, clean and has bold colours. The front panel has a 7mm tear closed tear to top edge, and there are a couple of small rubs to the foot of spine. Overall a near fine copy. For grading accuracy books are photographed without a protective book cover. This book is fitted with a non adhesive archival quality book protector to make a quality addition to your collection. Note we do not use stock images, the book pictured is the book described. An attractive and clean solid copy of this first printing novel. Comes from the estate of Roger Earnshaw, SF collector, well known at British conventions and fandom.
Synopsis
The Bird of Time is a science fiction novel by author Wallace West. It was published in 1959 by Gnome Press in an edition of 5,000 copies, of which 2,102 were never bound. The novel is a fix-up of four of West's short stories that had originally appeared in the magazines Astounding and Thrilling Wonder Stories.
