About This Item
San Francisco: Tachyon Publication, 1995. First edition thus. Hardcover. Fine/fine. Fine, fresh copy in fine dust jacket. Book plate on front pastedown. First edition thus. Hardcover. 202 pages. New introduction by Sam Moskowitz. When "The Black Flame" was first published in 1939, its author, Stanley G. Weinbaum, has been dead for three years. By that time, some 18,000 words had been either excised or edited from the original manuscript. That original manuscript, auctioned off at the First World Science Fiction Convention in 1939, was subsequently stolen and never recovered. The publication of this, the restored version, was made possible when Weinbaum's family discovered a carbon copy and it appears here for the first time.
