New York: Greaves Publishing Company, 1911. Very Good. New York: Greaves Publishing Company, 1911. First Edition. 12mo; [ii],173pp+1ads. Gray cloth with gilt lettering to spine and mounted illustration to front panel. Boards a bit edgeworn, with some superficial smudges and scuffs. Spine cocked and nudged at ends. Topstain faded. Contemporary ownership inscription of a Julia C. Alexander of Spartanburg, SC (presumed Julia Cecelia Alexander, 1893-1968, originally of Greenville) on front free endpaper. Scattered light foxing, else pages unmarked. Opens easily between a few gatherings but binding is sound.
An April 1913 blurb by William E. Towne in The Nautilus reads: "A volume of peculiar short stories - mystery stories. Mrs. Hall is a professional graphologist, and each story has a plot based upon a bit of handwriting. This little volume is good for several hours' pleasant entertainment. You will also pick up quite a little information as to character reading from handwriting." Hall self-published her work on handwriting analysis, The Brain Behind the Pen: Twelve Lessons in Graphology, a few years prior in 1909.
