Bound in an exceptional contemporary full leather binding with extensive gilt tooling and an intricate star design to boards. Raised bands to spine. The binding has some darkening to the spine, some tenderness at the top of the joint with the front board, and some wear to corners and edges. Marbled endpapers. Aeg. Contents in very good condition - occasional light spotting and some offsetting from the engravings to the text. A lovely volume.

Finely bound by Riviere in early full blue calf. The spine with five raised bands, each with five gilt dots. Compartments with gilt floral decoration, wavy line borders and lettered in gilt. Gilt ruled line to board edges. Marbled endpapers. Turn ins with double ruled and single piped dot borders and floral corner pieces, all in gilt. All edges gilt. Just a hint of fading to the spine but overall a fine copy in a fine, attractive early twentieth century leather binding.

Folio (11 x 14 1/2 inches). 556 pp. pp. with printing in red and black, elaborate floriated borders based on designs by Bertram Grovesnor. Publisher's full vellum with gilt lettering and decoration, brass clasps, deckle edges. At one point a pious soul laid a carnation in the book to be flattened; offsetting to the leaves touching. A very appealing copy. Custom acrylic slipcase. The issue of this title with floriated borders indicates it was a subscriber's copy. Copies for clerical distribution had red rules in place of the borders.
