Bound in an exceptional contemporary full leather binding with extensive gilt tooling and an intricate star design to boards. Raised bands to spine. The binding has some darkening to the spine, some tenderness at the top of the joint with the front board, and some wear to corners and edges. Marbled endpapers. Aeg. Contents in very good condition - occasional light spotting and some offsetting from the engravings to the text. A lovely volume.

Neatly hand written in ink on the last six blank leaves at the end of the book, is all of Arnold's poem, The buried life, otherwise a fine and clean copy throughout. Gilt ruled line to board edges. Marbled endpapers. Turn ins with double ruled and single piped dot borders and floral corner pieces, all in gilt. All edges gilt. Just a hint of fading to the spine but overall a fine copy in a fine, attractive early twentieth century leather binding.
